Video Flop Checker

Question 1 of 8

Where did you post it?

  • TikTok
  • Instagram Reels
  • YouTube Shorts

What your result means

Every check ends with exactly one of these results, so you know what to fix first instead of changing everything at once. Each one comes with the reason, the official screen to open, one thing to do next and a checklist you can print.

ResultWhat it meansWhat to do first
LIKELY DISTRIBUTION NOT STARTED YETIt's too early, or the post is still processing or under review, so the platform hasn't really shown it yet.Wait, then check again. Don't delete and repost.
LIKELY RESTRICTIONTikTok, Instagram or YouTube shows a restriction for this post or your account.Read the reason in the app, then fix it or appeal.
LIKELY CONTENT OR RETENTION ISSUENothing is flagged. People saw the video and left early, or it reused a clip that was already posted.Rework the opening of your next video.
LIKELY NORMAL FLUCTUATIONNothing is flagged and only this video dipped.Post the next one as planned and compare.
INSUFFICIENT EVIDENCEYour answers don't support a call yet.Run the official check, or post a few more videos, then check again.

How it works

  1. Pick TikTok, Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts.
  2. Open the platform's own check when the tool asks (it shows you the exact path).
  3. Answer 7 taps: how long ago you posted, views compared with your usual, whether other videos dipped too, what the platform's own check shows, your account size, and what kind of video it is. Add your watch time if you know it.
  4. Get one result with the reason, the in-app screen that confirms it, one next step, and a printable checklist.

The whole thing takes about a minute.

Why it asks you to open the app

No external tool can see platform restriction flags. We tell you what is likely and how to check it officially.

The platforms do show restrictions to the account owner, in their own screens:

  • TikTok: Account check (Profile → Menu ☰ → TikTok Studio → More tools → Account check), plus a notice on any post that isn't eligible for the For You feed (TikTok Help).
  • Instagram: Account Status (Profile → Menu ☰ → More info and support → Account Status). On a professional account it shows whether your content can be recommended to people who don't follow you (Instagram Help Center).
  • YouTube Shorts: the Restrictions column in YouTube Studio → Content, and strikes on the Studio dashboard (YouTube Help).

The checker asks what you see on that screen and weighs it with your other answers.

What we ask, and why

We askWhy it matters
How long ago you postedA video that's under an hour old usually hasn't been shown much yet, and TikTok can review content when it's uploaded. Instagram trial reels get their insights within 24 hours.
Views compared with your usual"Low" only means something next to your own numbers. We never compare you with other accounts.
Whether other videos dipped tooOne weak video happens to everyone. A run of them points somewhere.
What the official check showsIt's the only place a restriction actually shows up. TikTok says it notifies you in Inbox and on your profile; Instagram shows it in Account Status.
Your account sizeWith fewer than 10 posts there's too little history to make a call, so we'll say so instead of guessing.
What kind of video it isInstagram says it's less likely to recommend reposts and content with another app's watermark.
Watch time (optional)If people watched less than usual, the opening is the first place to look.

What it can't do

  • It can't see your account. It never asks for your username or password, so there's nothing to hand over.
  • It doesn't predict views or promise a fix. It tells you what's likely and where to confirm it.
  • It doesn't save your answers, and you don't need an account to use it.

Guides for each result

Want the full picture?

The checker works from your answers. The Video Analyzer works from your numbers. Upload up to 4 screenshots of one TikTok or Instagram Reel's analytics and get a plain-language diagnosis of hook retention, reach and engagement: what worked, what hurt and what to change next. No video upload, and the free plan doesn't need a card.

Analyze a video to see what to fix before your next one leaves port.

The Video Analyzer doesn't read YouTube Studio. For Shorts, the next step is the Shorts guide.

Questions

Why did my video flop?

Usually one of four reasons: it hasn't been shown yet, the platform restricted it, viewers swiped away in the first seconds, or it's a normal dip between posts. The checker above works out which one is most likely from 7 quick answers and points you to the in-app screen that confirms it.

Why are my videos suddenly getting 0 views?

A count stuck at exactly 0 usually means the video hasn't been shown yet: it's still processing, it's under review, or the count hasn't caught up. If every new video sits at 0 for days, check for a restriction: Account check on TikTok, Account Status on Instagram, the Restrictions column in YouTube Studio. The full walkthroughs are in the TikTok 0-views guide and the Reels 0-views guide.

Should I delete a video that flopped?

Usually not. TikTok says deleting violating content doesn't remove the violation, and a deleted post can't be restored if an appeal succeeds. Instagram says it shows reposted reels less, so re-uploading the same file doesn't give you a fresh start either. If the video flopped on its merits, post a new version with a different opening.

Is 2,000 views in a day good?

It depends on your account. Platforms don't publish a "good" number, so compare with your own usual. 2,000 views is a great day for an account that normally gets 300 and a dip for one that normally gets 20,000. That's why the checker asks for views compared with your usual.

Can this checker tell if I'm shadowbanned?

No outside tool can. Platforms show restrictions to the account owner, inside their own apps. The checker asks what the platform's own screen shows you and tells you what's likely. For a reach-focused version, use the free Shadowban Checker.

Does it work for YouTube Shorts?

Yes. The checker covers TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. For Shorts, the follow-up is our guide to Shown in feed and Viewed vs. swiped away, because the Video Analyzer reads TikTok and Instagram analytics only.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It's free and there's no sign-up. It doesn't ask for your username, doesn't connect to your account and doesn't save your answers.
