TikTok Video Size and Length (Official Specs)
Videos you record in the TikTok app can be up to 10 minutes long, and videos you upload can be up to 60 minutes. TikTok's Help Center doesn't publish a video size for regular posts; TikTok's ad specs recommend vertical 9:16 at 540 × 960 pixels or larger, up to 500 MB.
Every value below links to the TikTok page it came from, and ad-only numbers are labelled.

What TikTok publishes for in-feed ads
These come from TikTok Ads Manager's specs for in-feed ads (non-Spark). The page is public; you don't need an ad account to read it. We found no size or file numbers for regular posts in TikTok's Help Center; these are the ones TikTok publishes for ads. Useful if you run ads, or if you want a minimum to export above.

Does TikTok accept 1920 × 1080?
1920 × 1080 is a horizontal 16:9 frame. TikTok's ad specs accept 16:9 (960 × 540 or larger) but recommend vertical 9:16, so a landscape clip is allowed for ads but isn't the recommended shape. For regular posts, the Help Center doesn't set a size.
Is 1080 × 1920 the right TikTok size?
Good news if that's what your editor exports. It's a 9:16 vertical frame, double the 540 × 960 minimum in TikTok's ad specs on each side, and it's the size most third-party guides list. TikTok's Help Center doesn't name it: it's a sensible default rather than an official rule.
How long should a TikTok be?
TikTok publishes limits but no ideal length. Let the script set it: one point fits 30 seconds (about 65–90 spoken words), and a point with two or three steps fits 60 (about 130–180). Here's how to write a 30- or 60-second script.
If you add a sound before recording, the sound's length sets the video length, so pick the sound first and write to it.
TikTok safe zone
TikTok publishes safe-zone templates for in-feed ads in TikTok Ads Manager, and the safe area changes with the ad's dimensions and caption length. Its help page states no fixed margins, and we found none for regular posts. So you won't find a TikTok overlay with made-up margins here; download TikTok's own templates (standard and Arabic versions, with or without an anchor) from the in-feed ad specs page.
Write a TikTok script that fits
Before you hit record, Captain Hook's Script Generator can write complete 30- or 60-second scripts for TikTok and Instagram Reels: hook, build, landing line and short delivery notes. There's a Free plan, no card needed.
Posted, refreshed, and the views still look stuck? The Video Analyzer reads up to 4 screenshots of one video's TikTok analytics (no video upload) and explains what worked, what hurt and what to change next.
