Hooks for business coaches: 55 examples
Your first line is where a future client decides to stay or scroll. These 55 hooks are for business coaches, consultants and founders who post about pricing, sales, clients and building a business. 23 are LinkedIn post openers, 22 are from TikTok and 10 from Instagram, grouped by style. Below the hooks: 4 hook formulas, topic ideas and answers to common questions.
Hooks by style
Hooks are grouped by style. 51 come from Captain Hook's library of 761 classified real hooks; the other 4 are examples from our earlier business coaches hook guides, which this page replaces. The library has no view counts, so treat every hook as a draft to adapt. None comes with a guarantee. Each card shows the platform and whether the creator said it out loud or put it on screen as text. LinkedIn hooks are written post openers.

What these 55 hooks have in common
- 23 of the 55 are LinkedIn post openers; the rest are short-video hooks.
- Expert is the biggest style (19): a clear claim about how business works.
- 26 use a number: revenue, clients, steps or years.

Tips for business coaches
These tips come from our earlier guides to Instagram and TikTok hooks for business coaches, which now live on this page.
What a strong business coach hook has
- A credibility signal: a result you've reached or a client you've helped.
- Specificity: exact steps, numbers or a named framework.
- A pattern interrupt: something contrarian that stands out from generic advice, so your video doesn't blur into the hundred others on the same topic.
If your hook could hang on a gym wall as a motivational poster, rewrite it.
4 hook formulas for business coaches
- Secret or insider access. "The most successful [founders] keep this a secret" or "[Impressive person] does this and nobody talks about it." People believe success has hidden ingredients, so the promise of insider knowledge makes them curious.
- Contrarian or pattern interrupt. "The best [thing] is actually [unexpected thing]", "Not every [thing] has to be [expected quality]" or "If I had to [ambitious goal], I would do [specific steps]." Going against the grain stands out and invites debate in the comments.
- Personal experience plus a list. "I [credibility statement] and these are the [number] things I recommend [audience] do" or "[Number] things that are killing your [goal] and how to fix them." Credibility plus a numbered takeaway feels like advice you can use today.
- Raw honesty or tough love. "I don't know who needs to hear this but [direct truth]" or "Nobody wants to tell you this but [uncomfortable reality]." It sounds like advice from a friend who won't sugarcoat it.
How to use these hooks
- Lead with a specific promise or insight instead of a vague pep talk. Your viewer needs a reason to keep watching from the first line: what will they learn, or which belief are you challenging?
- Cover one angle per video. Don't fit mindset, marketing, sales and systems into one.
- Put the hook on screen as text in the first frame too, so it still lands with the sound off.
- Match the delivery to the hook: bold claims can run as text only, stories need your voice, and talking to camera builds trust.
Topics business coach audiences ask about
Topics to try: revenue and pricing, personal branding, productivity and time management, client acquisition and sales, mistakes from your own experience, contrarian takes on popular business advice, "boring" businesses that make real money, behind-the-scenes of your own business, step-by-step frameworks, and hot takes on business trends.

Questions
Do business coach hooks need to mention income or revenue?
Not always, and you never have to share numbers you're not comfortable with. Results-based hooks are one option; contrarian takes, personal stories and tough-love lines are others. Avoid sounding like every other "I made $100K" video.
How long should my hook be?
Short and punchy: one clear promise or claim. Save the explanation for the rest of the video.
Should I use text, voiceover, or both?
Both, in most cases. Text catches people scrolling and your voice builds connection. Bold claims can work as text only; story hooks need voiceover.
My videos get views but no coaching inquiries. Why?
Your hook might entertain without positioning you as the solution. Make sure viewers know who you help, what you offer and how to work with you.
What's the biggest mistake business coaches make with hooks?
Being too generic. "Here's how to grow your business" could be anyone. Get specific about who you help and the result you deliver.
Can I reuse the same hook formula?
Yes. If "The most successful [people] do this" or "I don't know who needs to hear this but..." works for your audience, run it again with a different insight.
